We recently bought a house in St Johns that had a couple of used Langstroths in the backyard. The yard is literally right next to the 1 acre Pier Community Garden. Our yard itself is quite large, with vegetable and flower gardens, shade and a water source.
I'd love to get the bees up and running again, but am daunted by the task (Susie W's bee class made me doubt my ability to keep a thriving colony). If I purchase the necessary equipment, is there anyone who'd like to manage hives that they would own, along with all the honey, wax, propolis, etc? In return, we'd get the satisfaction of re-establishing bees, and (hopefully), receiving a couple of jars of honey that came from our very own back yard.
