OMB Institute at the OSBA Conference [in Seaside]

• Zac Lamas will be discussing his paper “Amitraz toxicity in resistant Varroa mites can be increased by inhibiting ABC efflux transporters” (attached to this email). Our October OMB BEESEARCH participants will be reading this paper. Take a look ahead of time and bring your questions!

• Stacy Landers, a trained honey sommelier, will be presenting an introduction to the sensory analysis of honey. She will be teaching us how to taste our honey for defects as well as understand the complex flavors in our honey. She would like session attendees to bring a sample of their own honey, and a small jar/ glass to decant the honey into. A 4 oz mason jar works well, but she will also have some 2 oz plastic cups as needed. She will provide tasting spoons for the exercise.
